Diamond miners in Namibia have discovered a 500-year-old Portuguese shipwreck in the Namib Desert. The ship, named the Bom Jesus, set sail from Lisbon in 1533 but was beached on the southern coast of Namibia due to a storm. The wreck was uncovered in 2008 by diamond miners and contained treasures such as gold coins, copper ingots, swords, muskets, and navigational instruments. The artifacts provide valuable insights into the trade and economy of the Portuguese Empire during the Renaissance.
