Former Wallabies star Israel Folau has expressed his disappointment after being ruled ineligible to play against the British & Irish Lions in a tour match later this year. This is not the first time Folau and Rugby Australia have clashed, as he was previously sacked by the governing body in 2019. Folau had been informed that Rugby Australia boss Phil Waugh was open to the idea of him playing in a combined Australia-New Zealand XV, but Waugh quickly shut down the possibility, citing Folau's switch of international allegiance to Tonga.
