Swarthmore College is facing criticism for suspending a student two months before graduation for participating in Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) protests on campus. A petition has been filed, claiming that the college sanctioned a total of 10 students, with the most severe sanctions being on Arabs and Muslims. The suspension was a result of the student using a megaphone indoors during a protest in 2023. Swarthmore College had previously suspended the SJP group from campus after they falsely claimed that the college called federal law enforcement on them during a protest. The college also condemned SJP for posting a racist message directed towards a Jewish staff member on their Instagram.
