U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus called for the disarmament of Hezbollah and other armed groups in Lebanon 'as soon as possible'. Ortagus met with Lebanese officials during her visit to Beirut, following weeks of Israeli air strikes on Lebanon targeting Hezbollah. The ceasefire agreement calls for Lebanese troops to dismantle armed groups' military positions and confiscate unauthorised arms. Hezbollah has rejected attempts to disarm, citing Israel's air strikes and continued presence in southern Lebanon as breaches of the truce.
