The suspect accused of setting fire to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro's mansion was out on bail at the time of the incident. Cody Balmer, who was due in court for a domestic dispute charge, was arraigned on Monday and denied bail. Balmer had no history of substance or alcohol abuse but had taken medication for mental health in the past. The Pennsylvania State Police said Balmer brought homemade incendiary devices to the governor's mansion and attacked the residence while Shapiro and his family were asleep.
