The number of patent filings in India has increased, with over 92,000 applications submitted in 2024. However, the number of patents granted saw a decrease. India's emphasis on creativity and design innovation is evident with a remarkable rise in industrial design registrations and design applications. The Indian government has undertaken initiatives to bolster the IP ecosystem, including introducing significant changes to streamline patent procedures and implementing comprehensive e-filing systems. India must enhance R&D investment, foster industry-academia collaboration, and promote IP awareness to solidify its position as a global IP leader.
