Israel is considering a theoretical Mossad operation to kill the key Iranian official responsible for ordering missile strikes on Israel in 2024, in order to provoke a direct attack on the Jewish state and justify a wide strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. The Trump administration is being urged to demand a new nuclear deal that truly cuts off Iran's path to a nuclear bomb or to maintain the current maximum pressure campaign. Former National Security Council chief Jacob Nagel warns that if Trump agrees to a deal that leaves too many loopholes, Israel's chance to attack will disappear and Iran will become stronger. The most critical items Trump needs to get from Iran in the talks, according to Institute for Science and International Security President David Albright, are the destruction of excess centrifuges, blending down of enriched uranium, and cooperation with the IAEA.
