A family member of a victim in the El Paso Walmart shooting shocked the courtroom by hugging the shooter, Patrick Crusius, as he pleaded guilty to capital murder and aggravated assault charges. Yolanda Tinajero, who lost her brother in the shooting, was the first to ask for permission to hug Crusius, which was granted by Judge Sam Medrano. Another woman, Adriana Zandri, who lost her husband in the shooting, also hugged Crusius. The shooter targeted Hispanic people in the attack that killed 23 and injured 22. Crusius had previously admitted to officers that he had targeted Mexican people.
