Archaeologists have discovered approximately 4,000 new fresco fragments in a Roman villa known as Barberes Sur in Villajoyosa, Spain. The fragments are being conserved and reassembled to recreate the wall paintings that once adorned the villa's luxurious rooms. The excavation also revealed the original structure of the villa, including sumptuous rooms and a surviving intact wall. The restoration work has uncovered motifs such as vegetal garlands, birds, and painted moldings, showcasing the villa's decoration during the High Roman Empire.
