Foreign national stabbed and killed in fight in south Tel Aviv

A man in his thirties was stabbed to death Tuesday in Neve Sha’anan, a neighborhood in the south of Tel Aviv. Two others were injured.

Magen David Adom medics were called to the scene after a violent brawl broke out between two foreign nationals. The victim was taken in critical condition to the  hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A video showed a part of the fight, with several men kicking and punching one another while municipal police and others attempt to pull individuals apart. According to Ynet, at least some of the men involved in the fight were intoxicated.

A senior MDA medic, Carmel Dekel, told the website that in addition to the man who succumbed to his injuries, one was taken to a hospital with light injuries and another was treated at the scene.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident.

A month ago, in a similar incident, a man was stabbed to death on a Tel Aviv street in a suspected altercation between two foreign nationals.

Tel Aviv has a large foreign national population bolstered by thousands of African asylum seekers and migrants.
