Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely has joined others in calling on United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres to publicly condemn the false report published on Wednesday by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, sponsored by the UN. She said, “Yesterday’s repudiation by the secretary-general of the shameful and the disgraceful report of the ESCWA organization is a step in the right direction, but a profound change is required.”
The Likud lawmaker said “Israel has demanded the UN in the past, without response, to oust ESCWA Chairwoman Rima Khalaf, who has turned the organization into an Arab propaganda tool against Israel. Hopefully the new secretary-general will work in this direction. Otherwise, the UN will become a hollow building in New York which is not relevant to the world.”
