Joss Whedon reportedly threatened Gal Gadot’s career on set of ‘Justice League’

New details about the strained relationship between the 2017 “Justice League” movie’s Joss Whedon and Israeli actress Gal Gadot came to light Tuesday, in a Hollywood Reporter article claiming that Whedon threatened to harm the “Wonder Woman” star’s career.

While Gadot said in December 2020 that her experience with Whedon during the filming of the movie was “not the best one,” the new claims allege that the two openly clashed on set, with Whedon later “bragging” about putting her down.

The report said sources shared that “the biggest clash … came when Whedon pushed Gadot to record lines she didn’t like, threatened to harm Gadot’s career and disparaged ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jenkins.”

According to the report, “a witness on the production who later spoke to investigators says that after one clash, ‘Joss was bragging that he’s had it out with Gal. He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.’”

Whedon was hired to finish “Justice League” after director Zack Snyder left the project following the death of his daughter.

Responding to the claims, Gadot told Hollywood Reporter in a statement: “I had my issues with [Whedon] and Warner Bros. handled it in a timely manner.”

Actors from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” which Whedon created, have also made accusations of workplace harassment against him. Whedon has not publicly responded to the claims.

Gadot, 35, has been playing Wonder Woman since 2016, and she starred in the sequel “Wonder Woman 1984” last year.

Additionally, Gadot and her husband have launched several projects since founding the production company Pilot Wave last year, including a miniseries about the actress Hedy Lamarr and a film about Polish Underground leader Irena Sendler, with Gadot playing the title character in each.

She is also scheduled to star as Cleopatra in an upcoming film about the Egyptian queen.
