Man arrested on suspicion of stealing thousands from elderly

A Dimona man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of defrauding elderly citizens for tens of thousands of shekels.

Following a number of complaints received by the Israel Police regarding the misuse of credit cards belonging to elderly residents of the city, an undercover investigation was opened, which discovered that the suspect had contacted locals, fraudulently obtaining their credit card details and using these to purchase expensive items.

It was also revealed that the suspect impersonated a Bezeq employee. After several extensions of the man’s incarceration, the Southern District Prosecution Unit of the Israel Police filed an indictment and request for the suspect’s imprisonment.
