Minister of Construction Yoav Galant, a member of the security cabinet, has welcomed Friday’s phone call from United States President Donald Trump to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
Interviewed by Israel Defense Forces Radio, the retired general said, “I am happy about United States involvement. Maybe they will succeed in bringing the Palestinians to the negotiating table.” Regarding Abbas’s claim that Trump stressed his commitment to the two-state solution, Gallant said that it was not worthwhile to rely on Abbas in this regard.
