MK Rotman welcomes freezing of Palestinian construction in Gush Etzion

MK Simcha Rotman (Religious Zionism) has welcomed the freezing of a plan for Palestinian construction in Hirbat Zecharya in Gush Etzion.
“Anyone who thinks that Knesset members in the opposition have no influence &#111n events should take a look at what could have happened here, if we hadn’t raised an outcry from every possible platform, protesting the damage that would be done if the construction in Hirbat Zecharya went ahead,” he said.
“We also protested the fact that in the entire Binyamin region, the government wanted to approve just 14 residential units,” he added, crediting the efforts of the Knesset’s Land of Israel Lobby and its members Orit Strook and Yoav Kish.
“However, there still isn’t much good news for young settlements,” he cautioned. “1300 housing units for Palestinians will be approved in Area C according to the plans of the Palestinian Authority, and not according to the plans of the State of Israel. And anyone who compares the numbers should remember that the Arabs are building in Areas A and B without any approval or enforcement from us. It’s not 3000 for us compared to 1300 for them. It’s 3,000 versus 30,000.”
