Security forces said Thursday that they had arrested a Palestinian man suspected of carrying out a shooting attack on a vehicle near the West Bank settlement of Elon Moreh in June.
During the attack, the shooter opened fire on a car, causing damage but no injuries. The civilian vehicle was being driven by a reservist soldier.
According to the Ynet news site, security forces said the suspected attacker, a resident of the West Bank village of Salem near Nablus, used a Carlo-style submachine gun and opened fire with the aim of killing Israelis.
He was arrested in a joint operation of the Israel Defense Forces, Shin Bet and police.
The report said that over the course of his interrogation, it was discovered that the suspect was a member of the Hamas terror organization.
The unnamed suspect reportedly told security officers that he carried out the attack to avenge the death of his friend Malik Hamdan, who was killed in clashes with the IDF.
The report did not clarify if the suspect had been charged.
