Scotland’s Covid cases TRIPLED in a fortnight after return of schoolchildren while outbreak in England levelled off days before classrooms reopened to pupils, official data reveals

  • Office for National Statistics weekly report estimated 117,300 Scots, or one in 45, had the virus last week
  • This was more than 200 per cent above two weeks ago when 36,700 Scots had Covid according to estimates
  • England saw its Covid infections plateau last week, with 754,600 estimated to have had the virus
  • It comes amid reports Professor Chris Whitty is preparing to sign off on vaccines for 12 to 15-year-olds
